blog post title optimization
Do you know? heading tags play very important role in search results of your blog. When I created a sample post on my demo WordPress blog, It seems the heading tags are h1. But, in this case of Blogger it seems h3 (subheading) instead of h1 (main heading). So blogger users have to give more priority to blog post titles than any other SEO optimization. So in this post, let me share some updated ideas about blogger title tag optimization for better SEO.

Before we get started to the task, let me tell you one thing. If youre using free templates provided by blogger (like simple, Watermark, Ethereal, Picture Window, Travel etc) your blog post titlell be in h3 and blog titlell be in h1, whichs really hate by Search Engines (especially Google).

So what were gonna make here is giving h1 tag to blog post titles instead of h3 tag and h2 tag to blog title instead of h1 tag. Lets see how to do it in two simple steps.

Please note: When you make any changes in your template and HTML, I strongly recommend you back up your template before you make any changes.

Step #1: Changing Blog Post Title Tag (h3 into h1)

Go to Blogger Dashboard  Click on Template → Edit HTML  Proceed  Check Expand Widget Template and search for the following code (Use Ctrl+F to find the code).

<h3 class='post-title entry-title'>
<b:if cond='data:post.link'>
<a expr:href='data:post.link'><data:post.title/></a>
<b:else/>
<b:if cond='data:post.url'>
<b:if cond='data:blog.url != data:post.url'>
<a expr:href='data:post.url'><data:post.title/></a>
<b:else/>
<data:post.title/>
</b:if>
<b:else/>
<data:post.title/>
</b:if>
</b:if>
</h3>

Now, what youve to do is, slightly replace h3 tag (highlighted in red color) with h1 tag.

Step #2: Changing Blog Title Tag (h1 into h2)

Use Ctrl+F and find the code below and replace all the h1 tags (highlighted in red colors) into h2 tags for better SEO optimization (if you cant find the code, then search for highlighted lines separately).

<h1 class='site-title' style='background: transparent; border-width: 0px'>
<b:include name='title'/>
</h1>
</div>
<b:include name='description'/>
</div>
</b:if>
<b:else/>
<!--No header image -->
<div id='header-inner'>
<div class='titlewrapper'>
<h1 class='site-title'>
<b:include name='title'/>
</h1>

Click Save Template and youre done. Hope youll be able to see the results in (within) 24 hours. If youre facing any problem while making these changes to your blogger, mention them via comment. Happy blogging:)
